
Department of School Education (DoSE), Nagaland in association with Pratham Education Foundation conducted four-day online training programme “Gurushala” for nearly 10,000 government school teachers. Gurushala is an initiative of Indus Towers Limited and Vodafone India Foundation.
According to DIPR report, almost 8,700 government school teachers of classes 1 to 8 were trained on the theme “remote techniques for parent & student engagement, assessment methods and post lockdown strategies” on January 15 and 16, 2021 and over 1000 teachers of class 9 to 12 participated in the training conducted on the theme “remote techniques for parent & student engagement, content creation and post lockdown strategies” on January 18 and 19, 2021.
The training discussed teaching strategies in order to help teachers transition smoothly from remote/online teaching to classroom teaching.
During the inauguration session, Principal director, DoSE, Nagaland, Shanavas C hoped that the training programme would be a beginning as it was high time for the state to venture into alternative methods of education and teaching.
It may be noted that the online teacher portal www.gurushala.co launched by Gurushala curates free and high-quality content for teachers. It is now available both as website and as application and can be downloaded from Google Play Store. The website works for capacity development of teachers to improve student learning and achieve holistic development of students even with remote teaching.
