State College of Teacher Education (SCTE) Kohima, organised a seminar on ‘Inclusive Classroom’ at college campus on August 29.
Speaking at the programme, proprietor of Bumble Bee Inclusive School, Kohima Kopele Tepa, as resource person, said that the greatest barriers to inclusiveness were access, lack of trained professional and moral stigma. She added that educator could play significant role in spreading awareness about inclusive education and in eradicating the stigma that comes with disability. Tepa, also emphasised on the importance of teaching special children with life skills in order to make them self-sufficient.
She concluded her speech with a quote, “If I cannot learn the way you teach, teach the way I can learn”. The seminar was attended by teaching faculty and the student-teachers into fostering meaningful conversations. Meanwhile, a new elected executives of State College of Teacher Education Kohima Students’ Union was elected on September 1, for the tenure 2023-2024. Earlier, on August 30, Fire Safety Awareness and Training was conducted in the College by the Sub-Inspector Thejasetuo Keditsu and his team from Fire Station North, Kohima.
The programme empowered the College community to Prevent, Prepare and Protect from fire incidents.
