DIMAPUR: The monthly meeting of SDPDB Bhandari was held on August 12, 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Summer House cum Guest House, Bhandari, where issues related to health services and power supply in the subdivision were deliberated.
According to DIPR report, Medical Officer, Ayush, Dr. Lydia apprised the house that the Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhandari has been functioning without a Chief Medical Officer since the transfer of the previous officer, and that replacement has not yet been posted. She further highlighted shortage of staff and the urgent need for a gynaecologist to cater to women patients from across the vast subdivision. Dr. Lydia also informed that a sensitization programme on vector borne diseases was recently conducted under the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP), and reported that no cases have been detected so far.
On the power front, president, Yanmhon Area Public Organization (YAPO), N. Thungdemo Tungoe, submitted a representation requesting upgradation of the existing 11 KV to 33 KV supply to balance demand and supply. He stated that due to insufficient capacity, 20 villages under Yanmhon area face excessive load shedding and power cuts, affecting households, education, farming, essential services and commercial activities.
Responding to the concerns, Additional Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Longasen Lotha, directed preparation of a rationalization and feasibility report to be presented in the next meeting for further action. He also commended the successful completion of the Census exercise 2027, lauding the proactive role of census officials, departmental officers, CSOs and Bhandari Town Council. He urged members to carry out assigned duties diligently and to participate in the upcoming Independence Day celebration with full cooperation.
