Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB), Pughoboto, held its monthly meeting for September at the Ghatashi Village Council Hall, Zunheboto on September 9. The meeting was chaired by Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Ghatashi, Yitachu Thur, and attended by SDPDB members, Ghatashi Area Town Council (GATC) representatives, village GBs, and members of the public.
A key highlight of the meeting was the approval of a proposal to establish an Information Technology (IT) Department at the Pughoboto Sub-Division, aimed at modernizing administrative and public service delivery.
The board also proposed an Inter-Departmental Sports Meet to foster cooperation and team spirit among departments. EAC Headquarters was nominated as convenor, with SDPO, SDAO, BDO, and JSCO forming the organizing committee.
The meeting discussed a community initiative from Ghokimi Village to organize an Organic Ground Nut (Khodam) Festival in November. While the board appreciated the proposal, it cited technical constraints preventing official support but raised no objection to the village proceeding independently.
Concerns over crop and property damage caused by wild elephants in the Asukiqa Area were also raised. The administration confirmed verification of the damage and reported that the case has been forwarded to the Wildlife Warden in Dimapur via the District Forest Officer (DFO), Zunheboto.
In recognition of exemplary farming practices, Dr. Sukhato A. Sema MLA distributed five automatic sprayer machines to top-performing farmers and assured that five more would be distributed in the next meeting. He reiterated his commitment to promoting innovation and efficiency in agriculture.
Addressing infrastructure issues, Dr. Sukhato expressed dissatisfaction with contractors under the Economic Importance (EI) Road Project for failing to maintain standards. He urged village leaders and the public to monitor works actively and ensure quality execution. He also acknowledged chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio’s leadership in facilitating road development in Pughoboto.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Sukhato inaugurated a newly constructed concrete road and drainage system under the PMAAGY scheme of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs at Ghatashi. He also inspected the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Ghatashi, where he interacted with medical staff and addressed concerns including the absence of a dedicated doctors’ quarter.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tiameren Chang, in his address, urged Village Council Chairmen to cooperate with government departments to ensure effective service delivery.
The meeting concluded with renewed commitment from board members and public representatives toward community development and inter-departmental collaboration.
