In a shocking revelation by Fact Finding Committee (FFC) of All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU), claimed that four students whose names were not indicated in the declaration of AIPMT results, were offered seats in MBBS & BDS through NSPMT exam, 2014.
Addressing the mediapersons at the NSF office, ANCSU FFC said it also found numerous discrepancies and lapses committed by the Department of Technical Education (DTE), “such as misleading notification, lack of communication with other departments, clarity in seat allotment etc.”
According to ANCSU two candidates who were selected for MBBS were ranked 19th in NSPMT (marks shown as AIPMT-190 NSPMT 272), and ranked 42nd through NSPMT (marks shown as AIPMT-162 NSPMT-258). The other two candidates selected for BDS– ranked 3rd through NSPMT with marks shown as AIPMT-189 & NSPMT-191 and the other ranked 8th through NSPMT with the marks AIPMT-151 NSPMT-233. ANCSU said there was no record of the four candidates appearing in AIPMT.
ANSCU FFC further issued an ultimatum to the chief minister, with complete details and demands seeking immediate action within thirty days with effect from the day of submission of the following demands:-
(i) Rejection of the High Power Committee February 2015,
(ii) Immediate recall of students who had been selected for MBBS/BDS illegally
(iii) Immediate constitution of enquiry through CBI to investigate the conduct and selection of students in various technical courses during the last 10 years,
(iv) To remove concerned officials from their responsibilities when the process of enquiry if being conducted
(v) To take drastic actions against the erring officials.
ANCSU warned that if the demands were not made, it would be compelled to initiate its own course of action.
While appreciating the chief minister for constituting the HPC in a record time, ANCSU however pointed out that the HPC report was one of the “biggest disappointments which is shoddy, confusing, inconclusive and biased”.
Stating that the HPC had invited the union only for the preliminary round of consultation, ANCSU said that the HPC recommendations was an eyewash and highly compromised.
“In fact it is frightening and bizarre to note that the HPC report was prepared by the DTE director”, ANCSU stated. It said that the HPC report was a copy paste of very report given by the DTE director.
It said further pointed out that the Department of Technical Education (DTE) was given the task of the CSB to obtain marks of both AIPMT and NSPMT and to do necessary selection/nominations accordingly. However, ANCSU said the department went several steps ahead by allotting marks to selected “special case students” who had not even appeared in the exams and snatched away seats from the deserving students to be given to these students for a price.
In understanding the seriousness of the issue, ANCSU said the HPC was constituted.
ANCSU pointed out that in the provisional list certain students who opted for MBBS and BDS as their first priority, were also selected for Agri and Allied. “They” had come out with another point that, those students who had already accepted the Agri and Allied would not be able to sit for NSPMT exam, those students who had not accepted it were allowed to sit. ANCSU questioned to whom the seats were given which were vacated by the students.
ANCSU said that it was shocking that “the conduct of exam and declaration of results in 2014 were under microscopic scrutiny in 2014 with massive public upheaval and strong students protest with regard to BSc (Horticulture) seat and yet the concerned officials blatantly committed such heinous crimes with impunity and disregard for the future of students.”
ANCSU further requested the parents and students to extend co-operation in the midst of the issue. The union also reaffirmed to stand by its representation submitted to the chief minister in October 2014.
