DIMAPUR: State Election Commission (SEC), Nagaland has issued guidelines for identification of electors during the upcoming municipal polls scheduled for June 16, 2026 at Ward 11 (Chaara), Chümoukedima Town Council; Ward 8 (Tsumang ‘B’), Wokha Town Council; and Ward 9 (Samba Ghoki), Atoizu Town Council.
In pursuance of sub rule (4) of Rule 54 of the Nagaland Municipal Election Rules 2023, the SEC notified that electors must produce any one of the following documents for exercising their franchise: Indian Passport, Driving License, Aadhaar Card, Service Identity Card, Bank/Post Office Passbook with photograph, PAN Card, Pension Document with photograph, or Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate issued by the Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner.
The Commission further stated that no elector will be allowed to vote unless they produce one of the prescribed documents.
