KOHIMA, AUG 22 (NPN): Sechü Zubza FC capped their league campaign as champions of the inaugural Atuo Mezhür Sekhose Super League (AMSSL) after defeating Mez & Co 3-1 in the final league match at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here on Saturday.
Sechü Zubza FC dominated the contest from the outset, with Kevisanyü opening the scoring in the fifth minute. The forward doubled the advantage in the 66th minute before completing his hat-trick in the 90th minute.
Mez & Co managed a late consolation through Vinato in the second minute of added time, but it was not enough to prevent Sechü Zubza FC from securing a 3-1 victory and finishing top of the league standings. The match also saw disciplinary action against Mez & Co, with Neisede receiving a yellow card in the 31st minute. Haokhohen was shown a red card in the 65th minute, leaving Mez & Co to finish the match with 10 players.
The match was played in the presence of match patron Medovi-u Martin Suohu, Councillor, Ward No. 19.
With the league stage now concluded, Sechü Zubza FC will face fourth-placed Tsütuonuomia Youth Organisation (TYO) in the first semi-final of the Champions Cup on August 25 at 6 pm.
Second-placed Mez & Co will take on third-placed Vanguard Academy in the second semi-final on August 27 at 6 pm. The winners of the two semi-finals will meet in the Champions Cup final on August 29 at 6 pm.
All Champions Cup fixtures are scheduled to be played under floodlights, with kick-off set for 6 pm.
The first semi-final will therefore see league champions Sechü Zubza FC take on TYO, with the league having paved the way for the teams to begin their pursuit of the Champions Cup.
