Section 144 CrPC in Peren district today

Peren deputy commissioner (DC) Vineet Kumar has notified and ordered imposition of Section 144 of CrPC in Peren district from 6 am till 11 pm on June 29 as a part of precautionary measures, prevent occurrence of any untoward incident, and in the interest of maintaining peace and tranquility during the scheduled counting of votes of municipal and town council elections held on June 26.


Accordingly, assembly of five or more persons and vehicular movement of non-essential nature have been prohibited during the period across the Peren district. No person would be allowed to carry lethal weapons and firearms in public places, including lathis, machete, dao, daggers, sticks, spears, swords, catapult or any kind of inflammable object.


However, officials and staff of district administration, security personnel, magistrates on duty, medical personnel and persons engaged in election duty, and essentials services would be exempted from the purview of the restrictions imposed.


Movement of commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles or vehicles carrying essentials commodities, press and media telecom services, and medical emergencies too has been exempted. The DC warned that if any person was found violating the order, he or she would be prosecuted under relevant section of the law. This was stated in a DIPR press release.
