Seeds distribution prog under NEC, MIDH

Department of horticulture organised a seeds distribution programme under North Eastern Council (NEC) and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) 2021-22 on September 10 in the office of DHO, Noklak.

According to a DIPR report, while speaking on the occasion, SDO (C) C. Phuniang extended gratitude to the government and the department for organising the first of its kind in the district.

He expressed confidence that the district, particularly the farming community would be greatly benefited.

Phuniang challenged the beneficiaries gathered to make a notable impact in the market through their products.

Pointing out that there were traditional and modern types of farming, he encouraged the farmers to adopt progressive farming practices for enhance economy of the district keeping in mind the sustainability of the environment.

It is unreasonable on our part to purchase farm produce from other states and areas when most of us are farmers here, he added.

Meanwhile, district horticulture officer, Noklak, Tiakaba Longchar cautioned the farmers on proper used of seeds and that action would be initiated against defaulters.

He also informed that inspection would be conducted.

DHO disclosed that there were six vegetable villages under NEC (post COVID-19 economic recovery) in the district which included Noklak, Nokyan B, Yokao, Panso A, Sanglao and Chiliso where seeds were distributed.

Seeds were also distributed to vegetables villages Noklak, Nokyan, Yokao, Choklangan and Kingjung which was under MIDH 2021 -22. 

DPO Noklak, Meren Jamir also spoke at the programme.
