Correspondent

A 10-day self defense training by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland for government school teachers began on Tuesday at Pele Khezhie Indoor Stadium, Kohima village, organised by Nagaland Taekwondo Association.
The first batch of the training began with 74 participants from six districts including Kohima, Peren, Phek, Zunheboto, Mon and Longleng.
During first training session on Tuesday, senior taekwondo master and chief instructor, Theja Keretsü (black belt 5th Dan), told the teachers that they would be taught with the best techniques used by elite commando forces all over the world.
Highlighting the importance of self defense, Keretsü said such trainings help protect people from bad elements on a daily basis.
He pointed out that although there were intensive courses on self defense, a concise version would be taught to the trainees which had proven to be effective.
The second batch is expected to commence the training consecutively with the ongoing batch.
Teachers from government schools are being taught under the programme so that they would be able to impart the knowledge to their students.
