Seminar on “Agri and Allied Sector” was organized by Green Club Zunheboto (GCZ) under the aegis of Land Resource department; Agriculture department and Horticulture department, here in Natha Old village Zunheboto, Saturday.
WMT (M), Land resource department Khenito Yeptho, speaking firstly as the resource person dwelt on the topic “natural resource management”. He stressed on the natural resources, it’s worth and synopsis of the natural resources; watershed management; soil and other issues pertaining the depletion and disasters by the human civilization. He further highlighted the union ministry BJP led NDA government and its programs towards the land and natural resources. In conclusion, Khenito enlightened the gathering of various crops/seeds and its plantation and few power point presentation; and the marketing values of the produces.
Another resource person, inspector horticulture, Vikheto Assumi dwelt on massive plantations and profits from various fruits such as cardamom, kiwifruits, passion fruits, banana etc. He exhorted on the proper plantations citing the climatic conditions, areas, types of soil and other technical tips concerning the fruits. He narrated and cited various villages and areas where huge sums of cash, incentives, sustenance and livelihood are yielded by proper plantations and produce from several fruits etc.
The third and the last resource person AO agriculture department, Benoto Kiba dwelt on the Indian union government focus on “organic farming and agricultural activities”. Benoto shared on the selection of crops keeping in mind of the climatic conditions and environment. He stressed on the, “global warming” which had taken its toll on the farmers and agricultural activities.
He further recalled the “green revolution” back in 1960s which led to huge and massive productions of various crops and agricultural produce by implementation of artificial chemical fertilizer and pesticides etc, which had grave consequences on the health of the consumers. Lifespan in Indian Union now/currently is 66 years average, highlighted Kiba.

“Not only green village but, why not organic village too?” challenged Kiba while exhorting the gathering and farmers. He further lamented on the trend of focusing on cash/monetary benefits instead of acquiring knowledge through the govt. sponsored programs or allied activities. Kiba concluded with a note highlighting the various schemes and other activities undertaken by the nodal department.
Rounds of deliberations and discussion marked the daylong session. Earlier the program was chaired by Eunice Yeptho and began with youth director of the host village pronouncing the invocation prayers. Introduction and presentation was administered by GCZ president Tavinto Sümi followed by welcome and keynote address by the host village leader.
ADC Zunheboto Amen Imchen; Sümi Hoho, vice president Khehoshe Yepthomi; hosts of Kükami/GBs; elders; 3 nodal departmental officers and several others from the host village community graced the program.
