
Keeping in mind the growing number of internet users and emerging increase of cyber crime, a seminar on cyber security titled “cyber defender 2016” was organized by Society for Cyber Security (SCS) at the Holy Cross school auditorium, Dimapur.
During the seminar, resource person Country Head General Dynamics Internal Corporation (GDIC), Subhimal Bhattacharjee emphasized on the growing number of internet users and on the importance of cyber security and the emerging increase in the vulnerability of a cyber attack faced by the users.
He informed that cyber security was not just installing an anti-virus into the system, but that there are many layers of the internet eco-system which are vulnerable to attacks. Bhattacharjee said that a cyber attack may emanate from any part of the world with an ability to destroy millions of data within seconds.
Bhattacharjee also deliberated on the importance of acquiring the fundamental knowledge on cyber security and of creating a strong password while creating online accounts.
Others who spoke on the occasion included NPF minority wing central president, Bishnu Bhattacharjee, ex-DMC member and social worker, Lipok Pongen and working president, Muslim council Dimapur, Ahidur Rehman.
The technical session was addressed by Swapan Kumar and Yapang Jamir with discussions on topics such as ethical hacking and cyber security, phising and cryptography and SQL injection and system hacking.
