Seminar on ‘embracing organic living’

Phekmi Collegiate Forum (PCF) organized a seminar on “Embracing organic living, a key to healthy future” on April 12 at Phek village.


The programme was sponsored by Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA and leader of NPF Legislature Party while poster campaign part was sponsored by Er. Shekhotso Keyho.


Addressing the gathering as resource person, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, Superintendent of Police, Phek, encouraged the participants to stay away from chemical land application agents and narrated some true living consequential incidences due to the chemical residual effects.


While maintaining sustainability, she talked on the subject matter encompassing the general ideas on how to thrive economically with techniques and strategies on agro-allied sector.


Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK, Phek maintained that apart from all the traditional practices in cultivation there was a scientific method that are precise, refined and more accountable over traditional practices.


He dwelled on “Integrated Farming System” with elaboration on advantages, projecting subsistence and sustainability giving importance and emphasizes on Organic practices and the route to organic living.


Dr. Sharanappa C.H, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) on Plant Protection talked on the practices and method to eradicate pest and diseases without the use of chemical substances by adopting cropping strategies to break the life cycle of the pest/insects and contain it from further propagation.


The discussion hour, led by PCF vice president Kho-o H. Keyho was followed by adoption of resolution. The house resolved to impose complete ban of the chemical related land application substances in juxtaposed to emphasize organic practices on agriculture and allied sector.


Earlier, the inaugural session was led by Thuputo Venuh, joint secretary PCF while pastor Kuzhohü Soho, PVCRC invoked God’s blessings. PCF president Veshe Chizo delivered welcome address. Phek Flavours Women’s Group (Phek Village) presented folk tune. The programme concluded with benediction by Niekuvolu Lohe, Associate Pastor (Women), Phek Village Baptist Church.
