Seminar on ‘health implications of sex & gender differences’ at LFIC

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Livingstone Foundation International College (LFIC) organised seminar on the topic “Health Implications of Sex & Gender Differences” on August 23, at LFI auditorium, sponsored by Bank of Baroda, Dimapur.

A press release from LFI stated that chief manager, Ramendra Nath Dubey, graced the programme as the special guest while HoD, Department of Dermatology, CIHSR, Dr. Leishiwon Kumrah was the resource person. Dubey in his speech mentioned that as students in this generation, only classroom knowledge was not enough, adding that knowledge on such topics were of much importance as one never know when it might become handy and useful in later lives. Resource person presented a slide show, elaborating on the various diseases individuals tend to suffer due to their biological make up as male and female.

She also mentioned that even environment played major role in this. Depending on someone’s sex and gender, clinicians might also approach diseases based on them, she therefore noted that it was crucial to understand disease suffered by individuals based on someone’s sex and gender. The programme was chaired by assistant co-ordinator IQAC, Vesulu Thingo, assistant professor, Suipoile, invoked God’s presence, and vice principal LFI, Dr. Tainla Mar, delivered the welcome address. The program ended with vote of thanks and closing remarks by principal LFIC, Dr. R K Behera.
