Seminar on ‘mental health’ at IVBC

A seminar on “mental health” was organised by the youth ministry of Ikishe Village Baptist Church (IVBC) in collaboration with Lapiye Centre for Mental well-being on March 4.
A press release by the church informed that at the seminar, resource persons, psychiatrist SMO, Dimapur District Hospital, Dr. Temsuyanger highlighted on dependency on alcohol, drug pornography, and mobile, which was earlier known as addiction, a stigmatized vocabulary but now has been termed as dependency.
He also discussed about Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) and its benefits and how the dependents could lead a healthy quality of life at the later stage. Dr Temsuyanger said OST would help the users to give up using the substance with the passage of time.
Dr Temsuyanger also pointed out that phone dependent was included in ICD 11 in the category of mental illness and that people should know how to use it rather than become dependent.
A brief session was also held on demon possession and psychosis. The seminar which has two sessions began and ended with prayer by IVBC associate youth pastor, Inahoto.
