The District Administration under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme organized a seminar on Successful Parenting on December 7 at Town Hall, Wokha.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, while addressing the gathering said that the BBBP scheme is monitored by the Prime Minister’s Office. All districts in India have been directed to send reports of all activities undertaken on a non daily basis. According to Dr. Samoon, with the child sex ratio being lower for girls in Wokha, the district was chosen among the districts selected for implementation of the BBBP scheme.
He reported that the district recorded 954 female children for every 1000 male children in the district.
During the function, parents with at least three graduate daughters, with at least two employed in government service were felicitated. Mothers who gave birth to a girl child from the month of October 2018 were also given baby kits.
Short speeches were also delivered by ADC, Wokha, Mhathung Tsanglao, president Lotha Eloe Hoho, and principal of Mt.Tiyi College Dr. Abeni. Sr. Supervisor, ICDS, Wokha also administered the BBBP pledge to all who attended the seminar. The function was chaired by EAC, Wokha HQ, Arhomo Yanthan, while vote of thanks was proposed by SDO (C), Chonpenthung Ezung.
