Seminar on road safety awareness

DIMAPUR: The IQAC Pranab College, in collaboration with Dimapur Traffic Police, organised a seminar on “Building a Culture of Road Safety Among Youth” on July 3, 2026 at the college auditorium.
Aimed at sensitising students on road safety and the dangers of rash driving, the seminar covered topics such as traffic signals, the Motor Vehicle Act, and common causes of road accidents.
ACP Traffic Dimapur, Zubenthung Ezung, delivered an informative talk on the causes of accidents and the importance of safe driving. He also stressed road etiquette, particularly in giving way to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles.
SI Bokato and SI Y. Lipenthung Patton of Traffic Control Dimapur highlighted traffic signals and provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, including offences and penalties.
The programme was chaired by Ulla Laureen Fernandez, Assistant Professor, Department of Education. The welcome address and introduction of resource persons was given by Dr. Sanjukta Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor, Department of English and IQAC Coordinator, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Alomi Cynthia Shikhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and Co Coordinator, IQAC.
