Seminar on self-reliance held at Tuli

DIMAPUR: A seminar on “Building a Self-Reliant” was held at Tuliyong Ward Community Hall, Tuli, on April 28 with the objective of strengthening individual capabilities and promoting sustainable livelihoods. The programme was organised by Merangkong Senso Telongjem Tuli (MSTT).
Resource persons included B. Asangla, general manager, District Industries Centre Mokokchung; Dr. Lanunuchetla, District Agricultural Officer Mokokchung; and Er. T. Imlisunep Ao, principal, Government ITI Mokokchung. Speaking on “From Idea to Enterprise: Navigating Government Schemes for Industrial Growth,” B. Asangla highlighted simplified roadmaps for schemes such as PMEGP and PMFME, explaining how entrepreneurs can access credit and subsidies to establish processing units based on locally available raw materials.
Dr. Lanunuchetla, in her address on “Optimizing the Fertile Plains: High-Yield Winter and Vegetable Cultivation,” focused on technical best practices for off-season vegetable farming and winter crops. She encouraged farmers to utilise their land throughout the year to ensure steady income and food security.
Er. T. Imlisunep Ao, speaking on “The Multiplier Effect: Building a Sustainable Future through Integrated Farming and Skill Development,” elaborated on the economic potential of high-value crops such as agarwood, sandalwood and coffee. He underscored the importance of integrated farming systems involving livestock, fishery and beekeeping, and stressed the role of technical skills as a driver for modern agricultural success.
The programme was chaired by Tiasoba, with invocation by Rev. C. Tongpang, Pastor of Tuli Lenten Baptist Church. MSTT president A. Ngangshimongba Longkumer delivered the welcome address, while Ao Senden president Marsanen Imsong exhorted the gathering. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by R. Longri Jamir, executive committee member, MSTT.
