Seminar on therapeutic presence in nursing held

DIMAPUR: College of Nursing, District Hospital Dimapur conducted a one day regional seminar on the theme “The Healing Power of Presence: The Forgotten Art of Nursing” on July 16, 2026.
Nurses from different districts of Nagaland, including CHOs, staff nurses and ANMs from various sub centres, health and wellness centres, CHCs, PHCs, district hospitals and private hospitals of Peren, Longleng, Medziphema, Noklak, Wokha, Zunheboto, Chümoukedima, Nuiland, Kohima, Tuensang, Mokokchung and Dimapur participated in the seminar.
Guest speaker Nchumbeni Y. Jungio, Clinical Psychologist, CIHSR, spoke on the conceptual and scientific foundation of therapeutic presence, stressing the need to treat patients as subjects and not objects. Prof. Khumjanbeni Murry, College of Nursing, CIHSR, discussed the clinical application of therapeutic presence in nursing practice, emphasising compassion in nursing care.
Bendangsangla R., principal, School of Nursing DHD and patron delivered the welcome address, while the valedictory programme was led by Limasungla Aier, assistant professor, College of Nursing DHD. Lalthanzami from the Nagaland Nursing Council attended as observer. The seminar was chaired by Molungnenla Imchen, assistant professor, College of Nursing DHD.
