Angami Students’ Union Kohima College, Kohima (ASUKCK) organised a seminar on the theme “women, agent of change” on July 22 at the auditorium of Charity School, Kohima.
A press note by ASUKC stated that in the first session, resource person Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho, president, Ruokuoheü, spoke on the topic “work culture, role and responsibilities of women in the society”.
Ruokuoheü said “When a girl is well taught, she becomes better than 100 teachers” and advised the students present to uphold the good lifestyle of our grandparents. She further criticised on how today’s mothers who think education was everything and gave less importance on domestic chores.
In the second session, advocate Vihelieü Suokhrie, spoke on the legal awareness and gave guidance on how a girl could protect her rights and also deliberated on the rights of a woman.
The last session was based on health awareness wherein deputy director (Nursing) Health and Family Welfare Vilhoulenuo Liezietsu, deliberated on how the habit of eating junk food was affecting health and importance of cleanliness for girls.
The inaugural programme was chaired by ASUKCK president, Keneitsituo Kense, HACRC assistant pastor, Pelebeituo Rutsa invoked God’s blessing, welcome note was delivered by ASUKCK, treasurer, Keneisenuo Medom and special song was presented by Neilaü Thaprü.
The seminar was attended by Angami girls of Kohima College, invitees from various other colleges, leaders from Angami Students’ Union and Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho.
