Seminars and camps held across educational institutes in Nagaland

Several educational institutions across Nagaland held seminars and camps. The programmes included, career guidance, entrepreneurship seminars, observance of World Museum Day, and even wellness camp.
Seminar on entrepreneurship and leadership held at Tetso College: The Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Tetso College, in collaboration with Study Next, Dimapur, organized a seminar on ‘Entrepreneurship and Leadership’ for final-year students of Tetso College on March 26. The programme was supported by IIBS Bangalore.


Career mentor, skill trainer, and North East Youth Foundation, founder, Ranjan K. Baruah, served as the resource person. He elaborated on the differences between entrepreneurship and traditional business, highlighting how youths in Nagaland can benefit by embracing entrepreneurship. He also emphasized 21st-century skills, life skills, and selling skills, urging students to think critically and creatively to stay ahead of their peers.
Study Next, director, Sandip Saha, briefed students on the advantages of pursuing an MBA and shared insights into the current job market.
The seminar concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to all attendees.
Career guidance programme held at Jubilee Memorial College: The Career Counselling Cell of Jubilee Memorial College organized a Career Guidance Programme for outgoing 6th semester students at JMC Hall, aimed at equipping them with clarity on career exploration, higher studies, and self-employment opportunities in a rapidly changing job market.
Resource persons at the seminar included at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nagaland University, Lumami, principal scientist, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurtasia, who spoke on “Rural Livelihood Toward Sustainable Self Employment,” and Shisalen Riju Coaching Institute, Mokokchung, director, Dr. Yutsung Imchen, who addressed the theme ‘Navigating opportunities in career and competitive exams.’
Dr. Chaurtasia highlighted emerging career opportunities, urging students to develop a progressive mindset in the context of technological advancement, including artificial intelligence. He cautioned against overdependence on government jobs and emphasized entrepreneurship, organic certification for exports, and financial literacy.
Dr. Yutsung Imchen focused on self-assessment techniques, advising students to understand their aptitude, personality, and interests as a foundation for career choices.
He encouraged clear goal-setting, consistency, and early preparation for competitive exams through reading, writing, practice, and staying updated with current affairs.
He also underscored the importance of networking, discipline, and maintaining physical and mental well-being.
The welcome address was delivered by Jubilee Memorial College, principal, Dr. Imtiwati Jamir, and concluded with the vote of thanks by convenor of Jubilee Memorial College, Bendangsunep Ani, followed by a closing prayer. The programme featured an interactive session.
Sao Chang College marks advance observance of World Museum Day: The Department of History, Sao Chang College, organized an advance observance of World Museum Day on March 27 at its Tribal Museum on the theme, ‘Museums Uniting a Divided World,’ with principal, Dr. Lanurenla, as the special guest.
In her welcome address, head of the department, K. Chongliu Khiamniungan, noted that museums are dynamic spaces that preserve heritage while fostering unity and dialogue. Assistant professor, Langnyei Imlichuba Phom, spoke briefly on the history and purpose of the Tribal Museum.
Presentations on traditional Naga morungs, focusing on the Khiamniungan, Chang, and Sangtam morungs were held. The Khiamniungan morung was presented by Liang, the Chang morung by Imti Mongba, and the Sangtam morung by Arela, all 6th Semester students, who highlighted both the general features and the distinctive aspects of their respective morungs.
The programme was chaired by assistant professor, Bachu Yhoshii, and concluded with a vote of thanks by assistant professor, Alitoli Sumi.
AYUSH integrated wellness camp held at St. John College, Dimapur: The National AYUSH Mission, in collaboration with St. John Red Ribbon Club and NSS, conducted an Integrated Wellness Camp on the theme, ‘Mindful Living’ at St. John College, Dimapur. The programme aimed to promote holistic health and well-being among students and participants.
The camp featured sessions on health and wellness. Ayush, DoH&FW, deputy director, Nagaland, Dr. T. Bendangtula, spoke on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, while, SMPB, consultant, Dr. Lanusunep, highlighted the significance of medicinal plants found in Nagaland.
He highlighted their traditional uses and importance in promoting natural and sustainable healthcare practices.
A plantation drive was also organized by SMPB, Nagaland, with medicinal plants planted in the college’s Botanical Garden to promote environmental awareness and conservation.
The Ayush Health Camp witnessed participation from eight doctors and 16 paramedics, offering consultations, BP and haemoglobin checks, physiotherapy, panchakarma treatments, and free medicines were also distributed to beneficiaries based on medical prescription.
An engaging wellness exercise session was also conducted by international certified fitness coach Norah Changkiri.
The event was chaired by assistant professor, Department of Education, Achilo Patton, invocation by St. John, pastor Toshi. The programme concluded, reinforcing the importance of integrating physical, mental and environmental well-being in everyday life.
Career & Job Fair 2026 at Patkai Christian College: In a significant initiative to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional aspirations, the Career Guidance and Placement Cell of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), in collaboration with ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) and Don Bosco Job Placement Network, organized the ‘Career & Job Fair 2026’ at the college’s Indoor Stadium, New Campus, on March 27.
The programme began with an invocation by Neilevono Vupru, dean of Arts & Commerce, setting a reflective tone for the event.
This was followed by the inaugural address of principal Dr. Thepfuvilie Pieru, who underscored the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and skill enhancement in navigating today’s highly competitive and evolving job market.
He encouraged students to step beyond conventional career choices and actively pursue opportunities aligned with their interests and strengths.
The event brought together students from diverse academic disciplines, offering them a comprehensive platform to explore career opportunities, higher education pathways, skill development programmes, and employment prospects.
A diverse range of reputed institutions and organisations participated in the fair, including Frankfinn, Imperial IAS Academy, Arms Incorporation, Lovely Professional University, Honour Career Junction, WITI (Women Industrial Training Institute), Oriental Theological Seminary, Meghalaya Institute of Technology, State Institute of Hotel Management, Flywayy, and the Army Recruiting Office, Rangapahar, Dimapur.
These organisations provided students with detailed insights into academic programmes, vocational training, and emerging career trends.
The recruitment segment saw active engagement from companies such as Chilli Breeze, Talent Acquaintance, Reliance Jio, KFC, Nalanda International Public School, and Flywayy.
Representatives interacted directly with students, outlining job roles, eligibility criteria, and growth opportunities within their respective sectors.
The event witnessed an encouraging turnout of approximately 300 students, many of whom actively participated in interactive sessions, counselling discussions, and on-the-spot interviews.
A total of 21 candidates were interviewed during the fair, marking a promising step towards immediate employment opportunities.
Beyond recruitment, the fair served as an enriching learning experience, equipping students with practical knowledge of hiring processes, industry expectations, and the essential skills required in the modern workforce.
The Career & Job Fair 2026 stood out as a meaningful initiative, fostering collaboration between academia and industry while empowering students to make informed, confident decisions about their future career paths.
