Senden cautions Khango-led NSCN not to harass Aolemba

Close on the heels of various organisations condemning the alleged demand of Rs.50 lakh served on Aolemba Longkumer, chairman of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) by the NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Hokato Vusshe), Ao Senden has issued a strongly worded reaction.
In a statement, Ao Senden president Marsanen Imsong and general secretary Imtipokyim reacted to the statement of NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Hokato) which had asked Aolemba full accountability for MSME scheme implementation by submitting to it, cash vouchers and invoices for all machinery purchased under Micro and Small Enterprises Common Development (MSE-CDP) programme.
Ao Senden maintained that Aolemba was just one of many involved in the project and therefore, its success and failure was not solely dependent upon him but collectively. The Senden reiterated that Aolemba Longkumer and the department concerned have already issued clarification on the status of the programme.
Taking strong exception to the threat issued on Aolemba, Ao Senden cautioned that it would “not lie idle but take necessary measures” when its bona fide citizens were being “irrationally persecuted by any Naga political factions either by deeds or in words.”
Ao Senden has, therefore, asked NSCN (Khango-Hokato) to “stop the persecution of Aolemba Longkumer immediately and stop testing the patience of the Ao Naga Community.”
The signatories also pointed out that the government machineries at the Centre and state should carry out their assigned duties in case of any corruption under their watch, but added that the NSCN (Khango-Hokato) must not act like the government’s watchdog.
Ao Senden also reminded the state government to uphold the rule of law and “not act blind and deaf” when its citizens were under duress from Naga political factions while implementing government sponsored schemes, but immediately take necessary protective measures.
Business Association of Nagas had also strongly condemned NSCN (Khango-Hokato Vusshe)’s “reprehensible extortion demand” of Rs 50 lakh from Aolemba and demanded that the government take a firm stance against the group’s extortion attempts and ensure that the rule of law was upheld.
