
Sensitisation meeting-cum-anti stigma and discrimination on COVID-19 was held at Govt. High School, Akuluto, attended by administrative officials, Police, GBs, STH, student union, church leaders and town council on August 30.
A press release stated that, DPO (RCH &UIP) Dr. Nukshisangla Jamir, spoke on the importance of vaccination and elaborated that if children are not vaccinated in this pandemic vaccine, then preventable diseases will be prevalent again in society. She said that children were the future generation and encouraged everyone to be responsible to take vaccine on time.
Dy. CMO, Zunheboto, Dr. K. Akaho Sema as resource person called for kindness, support and helping each other to stop the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. He said that everyone had a role to play in protecting the physical and mental health of self and others and the only weapon to fight this disease was by wearing mask, proper hand washing and social distancing. He stressed that the level of stigma associated with COVID-19 was based on three main factors, wherein it was a new disease, of being afraid of the unknown and associating that fear with others.
Hosheto Awomi, GB, chaired the meeting, pastor, SBC (Nito mount) Jasper Achumi, invoked God’s blessings and vote of thanks was delivered by convenor, Task Force, Akuluto, Vikavi Assumi and benediction was offered by pastor, SBC (Aizuto) Akheto.
