Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP) Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) under department of Rural Development, R.D Block Chumukedima conducted re-sensitisation programs at Tenyiphe-1 and Diphupar-B on May 22 and Purana Bazar and Thahekhu on May 23 respectively.
The objective of the program was to create awareness on the importance of entrepreneurship which the SVEP was offering to the rural people.
Block Development Officer, R.D Block Chumukedima Yamao Konyak speaking at the programme said that Nagas needed to develop entrepreneurship skills like the non-locals who possessed soft skills in order to attract customers and that these soft skills, apart from various other technical skills, could be imparted to potential entrepreneurs by SVEP.
Block Program Manager (SVEP), Chumukedima , Tiasenba shared the objectives of SVEP. He informed that SVEP was being implemented by Entrepreneurs Associates (Project Implementing Agency), in coordination with NSRLM, who will be training the entrepreneurs with various skills required to run a business. He also informed that only Chumukedima and Jakhama blocks in the entire North East have been selected to implement SVEP and the responsibility of making the project a successful one rests on all stakeholders of the community.
Block Program Manager, BMMU, Chumukedima, Yimok also remarked that VLOs and SHGs played a vital role in implementing the program. It was the responsibility of the concerned VLOs and SHGs to screen out and send deserving candidates and permanent residents of the village for interviews and trainings, he added.
Objectives and importance of SVEP were also shared by project assistant Khosato Keyho and Francis Kikon respectively. Interaction hour was also held where participants gave suggestions and raised various questions related to the program.
Chairmen and GBs of the participating villages also expressed optimism that the program would benefit the villages.
Members of village councils, VLOs, SHGs and individuals (stakeholders) attended the programme.
