A proposal for the establishment of a separate administrative headquarters in East Dimapur was discussed at the meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Dimapur held on Monday.
In this connection, the members have also decided to form a committee to study its feasibility. This was stated in a DIPR report. The board also approved the proposal to rename a road under East Dimapur Town Council jurisdiction.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of DC Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang and key agendas such as upgradation of Itiki Montessori School up to Class-8 at Darogapathar and the registration of the society “Vision for Change” at Hill View Colony, were forwarded for approval.
Departmental presentations were made by the Health & Family Welfare Department (CMO), Sakhi One Stop Centre (OSC), District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), and the Water Resources Department.
Three new DPDB members were also welcomed: Executive Engineer PWD (H), Er. Kiheto Yeptho, DEO (Evaluation), T. Zulutemjen and principal Dimapur Government College, Kezhaleu Hesso.
Advisor of Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, who attended the meeting, encouraged officers to work as a team and uphold the district’s reputation. Emphasizing that Dimapur as the “nerve centre” of the state, she urged the administration to lead by example for other districts to follow.
Hekani also highlighted the urgency of monsoon preparedness, requesting it to be included in the agenda of the next meeting. She commended the contributions of women officers, especially from DHEW and Sakhi OSC, for their impactful work and encouraged departments to collaborate more effectively. Department of Power and PWD have been entrusted to make PowerPoint presentations in the next DPDB meeting.
