Sericulture department training programme underway

KOHIMA: Department of Sericulture has targeted 500 beneficiaries to be trained under “Scheme for capacity building in the Textile Sector (SCBTS)” with the objective to promote skill training and upgradation in spinning, reeling, and weaving.
Altogether, eight training centers have been identified with three in Dimapur, two in Kohima and one each in Mokokchung, Wokha and Kiphire.
The first batch of trainees on spinning was launched on February 8 with a training duration of one month.
At present, nine batches would be trained with two in spinning and the rest in weaving.
As per the project, the department stated that it would extend support to the trainees in both self-employment and job placement.
