SFS, TOAHDCC celebrate Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day was celebrated on Sunday by organising special programmes for mothers. It may be mentioned here that Mother’s Day was conceptualised by an American social activist, Anna Jarvis, following her mother’s demise in 1905.
Jarvis campaigned to establish a national holiday to honour mothers as she wanted to create a day for individuals to express their love and gratitude to their mothers.
SFS: Mother’s Day was celebrated in Kohima despite the weather playing spoil sports on Sunday.
At St Francis De Sales (SFS) Church, Kohima, the message was shared by assistant parish, Fr. Alex Tep who explained the significance behind celebrating mother’s day all over the world.
He observed that mothers were irreplaceable which was why a special day was marked to celebrate their lives.
Fr Tep drew comparisons on how Christ expressed His love for the world by dying on the cross and similarly mothers also sacrifice a lot to build a family which would in turn spread love in a society.
He said mothers carry a child in their womb for nine months, carry that child on her lap for around three years however, carry that child on her heart for the rest of her life.
Fr Tep said that a mother leaves behind indelible impact in the lives of their children with her actions, therefore, he said, it was important that mothers sow the seed of love in the family, a responsibility entrusted on her by God.
The priest also advised the gathered husbands and children to also be grateful for their wives and mothers by being a source of joy to the mothers.
Mothers present during the mass were showered with love
