Sumi Hoho (SH), East Dimapur GB’s Association (EDGBA) and Western Aghunato Areami Union (WAAU) have separately condemned the firing incident involving some unidentified miscreants at the residence of Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Tokheho Yepthomi at Naharbari, Dimapur on March 6 at around 11pm.
In a joint press statement, Sumi Hoho president I Nikheto Jimomi, vice president Hokishe Kiba, general secretary Dr. Vihuto Asümi and Sumi Kukami Hoho president Kashito Yeptho stated that miscreants attempted to barge into MP’s residence and opened fire.
The Sumi hoho stated that “such instances of life attempts and gun culture” in the society were “unwelcomed and condemned”. The Sumi Hoho further stated that such acts should be completely eradicated from the society.
The Sumi Hoho also urged upon the law enforcing agencies to leave no stone unturned to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Meanwhile, the Sumi Hoho has cautioned individual or group not to use the name of the tribe on social media that tarnished the image of the tribe unless the tribal apex bodies decide so in the larger interest of the tribe.
EDGGA: East Dimapur GB’s Association (EDGBA) has expressed shock over the firing incident at the residence of Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi.
In a press release, East Dimapur GB’s Association president Niuto Awomi and general secretary Joseph Mero strongly condemned the incident and urged the law enforcing agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book as per the law.
WAAU: Western Aghunato Areami Union (Dimapur, Niuland and Chumukedima) has also strongly condemned the firing incident Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi’s residence on March 6 and said that “such dastardly act” was not acceptable in the present society.
WAAU said that such acts needed condemnation from all sections of the society.
In a press release, Western Aghunato Areami Union president Akashe Zhimomi and secretary Otoka H Yeptho appealed to the law enforcing agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book as per the law at the earliest.
It may be mentioned that a FIR had been registered in connection with the incident and the police have already initiated investigation into the incident.
