SH organises SLB farewell & induction

Sumi Hoho (SH) organised a farewell-cum-induction programme for outgoing and incoming members of Sumi Literature Board (SLB) at Sumi Hoho Ki on February 17, 2021.

SH through its media affairs stated that outgoing SLB chairman, Dr. Hokishe Yepthomi while speaking on behalf of the outgoing team lauded Sumi Hoho for organising the programme.

He reminded the gathering on the sacrifices and commitment the elders and leaders had made to form SLB in order to provide the Sumi community a platform to continue learning Sutsah and also stressed on the perseverance the team had made to achieve its present status.

He lamented that the outgoing team could not attain due recognition for Sumi students to take up Sutsah as a subject at graduation level thereby, challenged the new team with the same task of earning recognition.

He also added that with the change in the spelling pattern, present MIL textbooks needed rectification to avoid confusion for students taking MIL and suggested that eminent writers and scholars among the Sumi community who help SLB in its work.

Speaking at the function, elected Chairman of SLB, Vihoshe Muru said that he was in awe of the elders and leaders who in the year 1947 felt the need of forming SLB for the future generation and added that a plan was made years back to introduce MIL even in private schools but that plan could not be materialised.

He further stated that aside getting the recognition for BA course, another challenge would be to bring out the textbooks at high school level so that MIL could be introduced even in private schools.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by president, Sümi Hoho, Hekhushe Shikhu, invocation by Rev. Vishepu Yepthomi and benediction said by Pastor, NCRC, Rev. Kihoshe Assumi, who also led thanksgiving prayer for the successful end of the tenure.
