SH rescues abducted employees of Gayatri-Maytas ‘unconditionally’

Two employees of Gayatri-Maytas (JV), who were reportedly abducted by NSCN (K) on January 11 in Phek, were rescued by Sumi Hoho (SH) team Thursday in Kiphire district nearby Zbto-Kiphire district boundary.
The workers were reportedly involved in construction of two-lane SARDP road project in Phek district. SH team was led by its general secretary Vihuto Asumi.
The abducted victims were ‘unconditionally’ handed over to the Sumi Hoho at an undisclosed location in Kiphire district around 10:30 a.m.
The two have been identified as Devendra Kumar Gupta (father of two children), son of Shree Sudeshwar, resident of Palamau district Jharkand and Kalinga Sethi, son of Prafulla Sethi, resident of Ganjam district, Odhisa.
Later, the victims were forwarded to the Phek SDPO and OC Chozuba PS where the FIR was reportedly filed by the company.
Speaking exclusively to this Correspondent, SH general secretary Vihuto Asumi said the hoho urged the NSCN (K) for the safe and unconditional release of the abducted workers.
Asumi said hoho took up the task on humanitarian ground and in the general interest of the Naga people though the locations of abduction and detention were not under Zunheboto district jurisdiction.
Stating that “without peace and security there will be no development”, hoho said it discouraged and condemned such acts of abduction. SH, however, appreciated the NSCN (K) higher authorities for the timely release of the victims before any eventualities or unwarranted law and order situation arose in the state.
Meanwhile, SDPO Phek and OC Chozuba PS appreciated and extended gratitude to the Sumi Hoho for its effort.
Besides, other responsible public leaders, elders and prominent NGOs have also lauded the rescue of the victims.
On january 26, Chozuba Range Public Organization (CRPO), Sekruzu Area Public Forum (SAPF), Chokri Area Public Organization (CAPO) and convenor of village council chairmen union, Chozuba area appealed “NSCN (K) to release the two employees of Maytas-Gayatri (JV) who were abducted on January 11, from Sothozu camp.”
The representatives of the organisations had also “unambiguously” conveyed their view “to all concerned including the Naga Political Groups to desist from such acts which are detrimental to public interest”.
The signatories also urged upon CPO and Sumi Hoho to continue working together to bring about an early solution and also appealed to the NSCN (K) to immediately and “unconditionally” release the abducted employees.
