Shamator admin delivers services to remote areas

DIMAPUR

In an effort to make governance more accessible, the district administration of Shamator, led by EAC Mekato J. Aye, conducted a three-day monsoon tour from June 2 to June 4, 2025. The tour covered the villages of Kuthur, Longtoker, and Sotokur under the initiative “Bringing Governance to Your Doorstep.”
According to DIPR report, a team from various departments—including Medical, Education, Social Welfare, and Rural Development—provided essential services to residents. The tour focused on Aadhaar enrolment and correction, CMHIS registration, and assistance with PRC and IIC form filling, helping people avoid long trips to district headquarters.
Officials conducted awareness programmes on substance abuse prevention (Nasha Mukt Bharat), road safety, tobacco control, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and women’s health and empowerment.
The EAC met with Village Councils and VDBs to discuss local issues and review the implementation of development projects. Along with BDO Koshei Konyak, they inspected PMAY and MGNREGA rural development schemes. CDPO N.L. Tangsoi visited Anganwadi centers to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene and distribute sanitary pads.
The health team, led by Dr. Ezra, MO Shamator, provided free dental check-ups, oral cancer screenings, and distributed medicines and hygiene kits. Officials also visited all nine schools in the Sotokur circle, where they assessed the NECTAR program and distributed pens under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to encourage girls’ education.
The tour reinforced the administration’s commitment to making governance accessible and responsive, ensuring that even remote villages receive necessary services.
