Civil societies in Shamator, including the Shamator Town Public Forum (STPF), Yimkhiung Liberü Arihako Shamator Area (YLASA), and Shamator Town Students’ Union (STSU), jointly launched a cultural initiative at the Cultural Hall on June 6, 2025.
The initiative encourages community members to wear traditional Naga attire on the first Friday of every month to preserve and promote the region’s rich cultural heritage.
The event was chaired by Tsukhumla, secretary YLASA, with an invocation by Rev. R. Thsankiu, pastor of Shamator Town Baptist Church. STPF president, Kiumehean, delivered the welcome address, followed by a folk song performance by Mongtsüwung Cultural Troupe. Short speeches were given by Shamator Deputy Commissioner, Head GB Shamator, advisor of Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC), and presidents of various organizations including Yimkhiung Women Organization (YWO), Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA), Yimkhiung Youth Organization (YYO), and advisor STPF.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by STSU president P. Tochimong and a benediction by pastor Mukam of Centre Church YBBA.
