Expressing resentment over the state cabinet decision that disallowed YAA golden jubilee to be held at Shamator town, the Chessore Area Public Forum (CAPF) asked how could the state government give way to “claims and intimidation perpetuated by handful of Yimchungrus…”?
In a press release, CAPF president A. Album said it was uncertain how long the state government would require to finally establish “if the claim of the Tikhir sub-dialect” as a distinct and independent recognized tribe of Nagaland was genuine and tenable in the eye of law.
Chessore Area Public Forum queried that when “handful of people from the Tikhir sub dialect” claimed Shamator town or Shamator village belonged to the Tikhirs, were not they impliedly and expressly accepting that “Yes Shamator Town belongs to the Yimchungru Tribe”?
Admitting that “truth is bitter”, CAPF, however, said that that did not mean “truth should be sacrificed at the cost of falsehood”.
It said decision of the state cabinet may be a bad precedence as Nagaland was a complicated place in term of tribal composition. CAPF said anything could happen anytime taking quick advantage of the instant cabinet decision that “clearly manifested a legislation of empowering any sub dialect to act and exist as a recognized and distinct tribe completely independent from the parent recognized tribe.”
Further, the forum said the decision has adversely encouraged “handful of people from Tikhir sub dialect to come out openly to commit heinous crimes”.
Stating that the state government even after awaiting for many days since the deferment of date of jubilee has not responded to the three-point charter of demands of the YAA, CAPF therefore said that with or without the consent of the state government the YAA golden jubilee rescheduled to January 14-17, 2016 would continue. It cautioned that in the event of untoward incident that may be inflicted against the innocent public or the students the state government should be prepared to bear the responsibility.
Meanwhile, the forum said it has taken note of the press statement of Shamator village council (SVC) and the Kiusam Area GB’S Union (KAGBU).
It asserted that if any unfortunate incident happened to PFPSD president Kiusumew, then Shulimkiu Head GB SVC, Khiunchumong and Thangpong of the KAGBU would be individually liable.
