Shankaracharya to host ‘Gau Dhwaj’ in Kohima on Sept 28

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Maharaj of Jyotirmath is scheduled to arrive Kohima on September 27 to preside over the installation of ‘Gau Dhwaj’ and deliver an address at the Gau Mahasabha on September 28 (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), before proceeding towards Imphal.

In preparation for yatra, Brahmachari Mukundanand, a representative of Shankaracharya yatra’s convener, along with co-convener Gobhakt Vikas Patni Ji, and state yatra convener Swami Ratneshwaranand Tirth Ji arrived in Kohima on Sunday to address the media.
This is part of the grand Gau Pratishtha Sammelans that would be held in each state capital, beginning in Ayodhya where Gobhakts and Gorakshak Ram Lalla resided. The yatra would travel across the east, west, south, and north of India, culminating in the national capital on October 26.
During the yatra, Shankaracharya would honour distinguished cow devotees from across the country.

As part of this movement, Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra would take place from September 22 to October 26, 2024. Pujya Gopal Mani would accompany Shankaracharya throughout this journey. The yatra would visit the capitals of all states and union territories, where a sacred Gau Dhwaj would be installed.

The goal of this yatra is to awaken cow devotees nationwide, unite them for a common cause – restoring the dignity and honour of the cow, and conferring upon her the status of Rashtra Mata. The motto is “Gau Mata, Rashtra Mata – Rashtra Mata, Bharat Mata.”
Following this yatra, a nationwide Gau Pratishtha Mahasammelan would be held on the occasion of Gopashtami in Delhi on November 7, 8, and 9, which would decisively appeal to the Central government to end cow slaughter and honour the cow as Rashtra Mata.
