Sharkaphung Shooting: Two Civilians Injured, TNFO Demands Security Reinforcement

Two civilians, Rinyui Ramror (41) and Raichan Lungleng (24), were reportedly shot by suspected Kuki militants at Sharkaphung village under Litan Police Station, Kamjong District. The incident occurred around 9:30 AM while the victims were in the Pastor’s Quarter. Both sustained gunshot wounds—Ramror to the thigh and Lungleng to the leg—and are in critical condition. A sniper is suspected to be involved.

Security forces and police began treating the injured on-site. The attacks reportedly started around 5:30 AM and continued until the time of reporting. Militants are said to be operating near the highway where security forces are stationed.

The Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation (TNFO) has called for urgent state government intervention, citing attacks at three locations since last night: Chassad-Kamjong axis, Shangkai, and Chepu. TNFO has demanded:

  • Upgradation of Litan Police Station to SDPO level
  • Deployment of two platoons at Sinakeithei
  • One platoon each of Manipur Rifles/IRB at Hongman, Mapao Zingsho, and Mapao Zingtun
  • Additional forces at Sharkaphung and Thoyee
