SHGs encouraged to be skilled, avail loans

Self Help Groups (SHGs) were encouraged to take advantage of various skill-based training programmes and schemes to build successful businesses.
According to a DIPR report, the department of District Urban Development Agency (DUDA), Wokha organised a one-day programme on women empowerment and upliftment for SHGs/ Day-NULM on April 13 at VDB Hall, Wokha.
In an opening remark, deputy director, urban development, Wokha, Kiniholi Kinimi urged the participants representing various SHGs to strengthen their activities in order to carry forward their groups to a greater height. She said that through SHGs, women entrepreneurs were provided with micro loans to sustain their business and stated that depending on their activities and efforts various kind of help have been extended. She also highlighted the various schemes and loan policies available.
Nagaland Rural Bank, Wokha, manager, W. Longshithung Tsopoe said that the government supported the SHGs by providing skill based training and administrative help to build successful business and urged them to avail the opportunity available.
He encouraged them to inculcate the habit of saving by utilising banking facilities among members, and urged them to properly maintain book records and other activities records in order to maintain transparency.
Tsopoe also urged them to following digital mode of transaction as now the system is emphasising to do transaction digitally.
During the second session, discussion on basic training and hand holding support to SHGs were held which was conducted by CO, DUDA, Wokha, Myingthunglo Ezung. The function was chaired by CMM, DUDA, Wokha Echungbeni while vote of thanks was delivered by CO, DUDA, Wokha Renbeni Odyuo.
