SHGs weekly Friday Bazaar inaugurated at Chetheba

A weekly Friday Bazaar for Self Help Groups (SHGs) under department of Rural Development (RD) – Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), BMMU, Chetheba town, Phek was inaugurated by EAC, Chetheba, Omegali, here, on Friday.

In her speech, the EAC encouraged womenfolk to engage in activities which would generate income and stressed on the crucial roles played by women both in the their families and the society at large.

Block Programme Manager (BPM) Senovielhou Koza in the keynote address said the main focus of NSRLM was to stabilise and enhance livelihood portfolios of the poor both in farm and non-farm sectors by diversifying their livelihoods.

He added that the mission looked after the entire portfolio of livelihoods of each household and facilitates support for activities either at individual/household level and at collective level or at both levels, through DAY-NRLM.

He pointed out the three pillars of NSRLM which included vulnerability reductions and livelihood enhancement- through deepening/enhancing and expanding existing livelihood options and tapping into new opportunities in farm and non-farm sectors, employment-building skills for the job market outside and enterprise-nurturing self-employed and entrepreneurs (micro-enterprise).

During the programme Chetheba town head GB, Motahu Rokha exhorted the participants while area coordinator, IBCB, Vekouto Kezo chaired the programme. Earlier Chetheba Town Baptist Church, pastor, Vesupra Tetseo offered the invocation while CRC Chetheba town, pastor Rudupra Nienu pronounced the benediction.
