Shikhu clan celebrates silver jubilee

Shikhu Lagha Kuposhukulu (SLK) has celebrated its 25 years of existence on January 30 and 31 at Hovukhu village on the theme “Build us up, Lord”.
During the two day celebration, Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi, Executive Secretary WSBAK, unveiled the jubilee monolith, while Rotokhi, Pastor, Hovukhu Baptist Church, released the jubilee magazine, and HK Khulu, Retired Additional Chief Secretary (Atilimi) exhorting the gathering.
Basing on Psalms 33: 12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance,” Juliet Shikhu, Pastor of Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church, delivered the Word of God in the opening service.
“When any generation obey God and submit their lives to God, they will have God’s blessing upon their lives. But a generation that disobey crumbles,” she said.
The second day of the celebration commenced with the unveiling and dedication of the jubilee monolith by Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi.
Speaking on the theme of the Jubilee, Rev. Dr. Achumi reminded the Shikhu clan that if they take pride in their achievements only, they would be pulled down by God.
“People don’t sleep to walk forward with purpose, they have to stay awake,” he reminded while stressing on the need to build up the lives in all the fronts.
Exhorting the gathering HK Khulu, expressed his pride of being one of the progenies of Asu Shikhu’s descendant.
Quoting South African Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu “Goodness is stronger than evil; Love is stronger than hate; Light is stronger than darkness; Life is stronger than death,” he encouraged the Shikhu clan to live in peace and unity.
The Shikhu Lagha Kuposhukulu (SLK) felicitated its members who topped different examinations. The SLK also congratulated and felicitated its son-in-law Dr. Hukashe Zhimomi on being elected as the Executive Secretary of Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Council and wished him and his family the best as they synergistically work for God and people in a new capacity.
During the grand celebration of its existence for 25 years the SLK honoured its pioneers including Late K Shikhu, former Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
The two day celebration was attended by SLK members, in-laws and progeny of Asu Shikhu’s descendants residing in different parts of the country.
