‘Shiksha Saptah’ underway in Nagaland

Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland also observed the Shiksha Saptah (Education Week) starting from July 22, 2024 to commemorate the 4th Anniversary of New Education Policy (NEP) 2024 which falls on July 29, 2024.


The event observation is scheduled on thematic activities. The first day of the event witnessed massive participation schools from across the State including Government, Central and private schools in conducting various activities including organization of Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) Mela/ exhibition in creating awareness on the linkage of TLMs with learning goals in different stages of Education.


A total number of 2315 schools, 15874 teachers, 258683 students participated on the first day with 6720 demonstrations. The second day marked the event on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy to create awareness about NIPUN Bharat Mission objectives to achieve Universal Foundational Literacy & Numeracy for the children between the age of 3-8 years by 2026-27. A team of officials from department of School Education, SCERT and Samagra Shikshab led by state mission director, Samagra Shiksha and state nodal office Shiksha Saptah Nagaland, Temsunaro Aier, participated in the day-2 event at GMS, New Minister’s Hill Kohima.


An introduction about the events were shared by deputy mission director, Samagra Shiksha, Kelhikha Kenye. Head teacher of the school, Atseiü Mechülho delivered the welcome address while graduate teacher, Yanchibeni, led the students in performing various activities.


During the event, the students conducted various activities including storytelling, singing of the Nagaland NIPUN theme song and display of NIPUN learning goals. Students of classes A and B were also engaged in various activities relating to theme of the day. The participants were administered NIPUN Bharat Mission pledge. The event will continue till July 27, 2024, culminating observation of Mission LiFE in collaboration with community leaders and Tithi Bhojan for the students.

Sports Day, Cultural Day will be observed in all the schools during the period. The department is monitoring the detailed school participation on daily basis for daily update in the Ministry of Education google tracker.
