Reacting to NSCN (I-M)’s condemnation of June 20 incident, the Shoba Lakhum and Z. Hozheto Chophi-led NPGN/NNC has clarified that one Kilonser of Mhathung Tsopoe and Kiyelho Wokhami-led NPGN/NNC (N/A) was “arrested” for allegedly “extorting tax under the banner of NPGN/NNC “with proof and evidence”, which it said was against “NPGN/NNC government Azha”.
Shoba-led NPGN/NNC through its MIP said it was “not against any particular government, but tarnishing the image of our government is not acceptable.”
It stated that any Naga national political groups have their “own agenda to support any political group and have their legitimate right to levy tax but under their own banner.”
Maintaining that Framework Agreement and political solution of Nagas have nothing to do with the arrest of the kilonser, the NPGN/NNC (SH) has, therefore, affirmed that “the common Naga solution should not be dragged in for the larger interest of our Naga.”
GPRN/NSCN: GPRN/NSCN denounced the NSCN (I-M) statement and clarified that the GPRN/NSCN along with the six NNPGs have been acknowledging and committing itself with the sentiments and values of the Naga people’s desire in “these tumultuous time”.
However, it said that “certain mischievous and vexed elements and agents” from time to time in disguise have “crop up and disgrace the genuine NPGs by forging government’s letter heads and involving in many unsubstantial activities.”
GPRN/NSCN through its MIP stated that “Discretionarily, two such imposters namely Nyambemo Lotha and Akavi Awomi both from Purana Bazar in the guise of being a member of NNC/NPGN (Hozheto) have been apprehended for impersonation and kept in detention.”
However, it said that the reaction of the NSCN (I-M) was “instead a doubtful and concerning matter that they are so emphatical for such characters and making their (imposters) detention an issue and fusing it with their framework agreement.”
Questioning whether it was “some kind of proxy financial game”, the GPRN/NSCN said “This is rather a much more concerning and serious matter to be introspected instead.”
