Sikkim partners with Infosys to expand digital skilling

Gangtok, Oct 7 (PTI): The Sikkim government has partnered with IT services company Infosys Ltd to expand access to digital learning, industry-oriented skills and employment opportunities for youth and women in the state, a statement said on Wednesday.
The Skill Development Department, through the Directorate of Craftsmanship Training Scheme and Employment (DCTSE), signed a memorandum of understanding with Infosys, marking the first such partnership between the state government and the technology and consulting company, it said.
Under the agreement, learners across Sikkim will get free access to Infosys Springboard, the company’s digital learning and skilling platform, offering courses in emerging technologies, vocational training, entrepreneurship and employability, besides certifications and virtual learning resources.
Learners will also have access to the Infosys Springboard Job Marketplace, providing opportunities for employment, internships, career guidance and industry connections, the statement said.
The partnership will offer specialised learning pathways for women and adolescent girls, focusing on digital technology, professional development, financial literacy, entrepreneurship and career readiness.
The initiative is aligned with Sikkim INSPIRES, the state’s flagship programme supported by the World Bank, which seeks to improve economic opportunities and livelihoods for women and youth through market-oriented skilling and employment interventions.
Officials said the partnership would combine the government’s reach with Infosys’ expertise in technology-enabled learning to create a digitally empowered and industry-ready workforce in the state.
