Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Kohima Police constituted Sunday has begun serious work on solving the murder case of a 22-year old basketball player whose dead body was found near a ring well at Old Minister’s Hill Saturday morning.
Special Investigation Team (SIT) is working on various inputs from sources to track the murder along in coordination with forensic team.
The SIT comprising eight members will be headed by Additional SP and PRO Kohima Police, K Soriso.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, K Soriso expressed confidence that the team would work diligently to uncover the truth.
He said that although the case appeared to be a “blind case” at the moment, the investigating officers were leaving no stone unturned to follow every possible clue.
He assured that the team was fully committed to ensure justice for the deceased and her family.
“Such cases take time, but the SIT is doing its utmost to investigate the case thoroughly and deliver justice at the earliest possible time,” Soriso stated.
The deceased, a 22-year-old woman from Jakhama village under Kohima district, was reportedly residing at Old Ministers’ Hill Colony at the time of her death.
Police sources earlier indicated that preliminary findings suggested the foul play, though the exact cause of death would be confirmed only after the post-mortem and forensic examination reports are received.
Meanwhile, Kohima Police have appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and urged anyone with relevant details to come forward and assist the investigation.
