SJC hosts seminar on ‘plastic free Nagaland’

Department of Social Work, St Joseph University (SJU), Dimapur in collaboration with Green Team Kohima (GTK) conducted a one-day seminar on “plastic free Nagaland” with the theme of Green Team Kohima “My Waste, My Responsibility” at Khuzama Village, Kohima, on August 30. 

A press release from SJU Dimapur PRO, Fr. Savari stated that, founding member of GTK, Thangi Mannen (Retd commissioner and secretary) talked about the devastating effects of plastic to the human and ecological systems. She emphasized on the “3Rs-Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle: to beat the plastic pollution. Akhrie Mor, general secretary KCCI, member of GTK applauded the immense contribution of women towards limiting the use of plastic and to say no to single use plastic. Ela Mary, member of GTK spoke on the issues of youth beneficence in plastic free campaign. 

Paper bags making was led by Francis Ruangmei, chief administrator, The Coming Generation, and member of GTK and his team. He emphasized on the importance of finding an alternative product like paper bags which were environmental friendly and economically affordable which in turn may create employability with their skills.
