St. Joseph’s College (SJC), Jakhama students who are offered a certificate course in guidance and counselling (UGC approved) made a visit to the state mental health institute on July 1.
Psycho-therapist and senior medical officer of the institute, Dr. Viketoulie Pienyii gave a talk on schizophrenia.
He said with increasing stress in present life, the need to care for mental wellbeing has become very crucial and asserted that mental illness can happen to anyone and everybody was vulnerable to it, depending on one’s life situation. Dr. Pienyii expressed that mental illness was not a curse. Students sang a song and performed a skit on depression.
Fr. C. Joseph, the president of All Nagaland Counsellors Association (ANCA) also the counsellor in St. Joseph’s College accompanied the students.
