SJC organises webinar on physical & mental well-being

A webinar on “physical and mental well-being during COVID-19 pandemic’’ was organised by the students’ well-being and peer counselling committee of St. John College (SJC) Dimapur on August 18. A press release by SJC Dimapur stated that the resource persons were Imtikala Ao (MSc. nutrition for Global Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) and Imlibenla Mongro (RCI Licenced Clinical Psychologist from CIHSR, Dimapur).

Imtikala Ao highlighted how physical fitness could be maintained during the pandemic by maintaining good sleep routine, exercise and proper diet. She also cleared many myths associated with covid vaccine.

Imlibenla Mongro spoke on the importance of mental health and how during pandemic mental health could be ensured by giving a structure to daily life but at the same time by avoiding making it too rigid. She also emphasised on the importance of staying connected with the loved ones if not physically then digitally.

SJC administrator Peter Banks also spoke on the steps taken by the college to ensure that campus classes do not threaten the health of the students and staff. 

The event was hosted by Mhonbemo Kikon, 5th semester student; Heilam, 3rd semester student said the invocation; SJC principal professor S.T. Janetius gave an introductory speech in which he spoke how physical and mental health are interrelated and equally important; vote of thanks was delivered by assistant professor of economics SJC, Sumita Banik Saha.
