SJU Dimapur exposure visit-cum-field trip

Department of Social Work, St Joseph University (SJU), Dimapur organised a one-day exposure visit-cum-field trip for the Master of Arts in Rural Development to Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema on August 30. 

A press release from SJU deptt of Social Work assistant professor, Meijianthaipou Ruangmei stated that, Dr. I Moasosang, assistant horticulture specialist, CIH, graced the occasion and spoke briefly on the history of CIH and stated that trainings were given based on the needs of the farmers. Dr. Longkumer said that trainings and courses were free of cost for the unemployed youth both short and long terms. He added that the institute organises organic farming, demonstration on and off farm, and exposure visit to create interest among the rural poor. He said that those trainings were given because farmers in the regions were ill-equipped with the modern technology based agricultural tools, techniques and methods. 
Marina, senior technical specialist, and Anjani Kumar Singh horticulture specialist accompanied the students visited to various production units and sites and explicitly explained about the methods and the procedures of the plantation, growth and cultivation.
