Department of commerce, St Joseph University (SJU), organized a two-day national seminar on “Financial inclusion through digital banking in India” sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) at SJU Chümoukedima on Thursday.
On day one, CRISIL foundation area manager, Wopanthung Kikon, as guest speaker lectured about financial literacy, Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and digital platforms of banking technologies adopted and gave live demonstration to make payment through voice based payment services with 123PAY app.
Registrar St Joseph University Dr. K. Sethupathy in his key note address, delivered about the financial status in India, particularly in north eastern states.
Assistant professor, dept. of commerce, Thanthai Periyar arts & science college, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu Dr. C. Paramasivan while chairing the programme shared about Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) scheme, on how to open bank account with zero balance and avail micro insurance scheme with minimal rate.
Associate professor & head dept. of commerce SJU Dr. S. Rajaram welcomed the gatherings, invocation by Deputy Registrar St Joseph University Rev. Sr. Thianes Mary and vote of thanks by asst. professor dept. of commerce St Joseph University Keneisanuo Linyu.
On day two, professor dept. of commerce Dr. Parag kumar deka, in his special address spoke about rural economy upliftment, while enhancing the digital banking services from below poverty line (BPL) and also concentrate above poverty line people in Nagaland.
Assistant professor NIT, Nagaland Dr.J. Arul Valan, spoke about digital banking and cyber security to digital banking users.
During the programme asst. professor dept. of commerce St Joseph University Dr. M. Balamurugan welcomed the gatherings, invocation by PRO St Joseph University Rev. Fr. Anish and vote of thanks by asst. professor dept. of commerce Vishinika Sema.
The two day national seminar included technical sessions from asst. professor Dr. C. Paramasivan, professor Dr. Amalesh Bhowal, professor Dr. Parag Kumar Deka (dept. of commerce) and asst. professor dept. of computer science Dr. J. Arul Valan. Around 200 participants participated in the seminar and presented their articles.
