SJYF conducts drug abuse awareness programmes in Tseminyu district

The St. John Youth Foundation, (SJYF) Nagaland, conducted a series of one-day awareness programmes on the prevention of drug abuse for school students across various institutions in Tseminyu district. The programmes were held at GHS, Kandinu on March 17, GHS Tesophenyu on March 18, GHS Chunlikha on March 19, and GHS Tseminyu Town on March 20.


The awareness campaign aimed to educate young students about the dangers of drug abuse and encourage them to make informed choices. The events featured interactive sessions, drawing competitions, and essay writing contests to engage students and reinforce the anti-drug message.


At GHS Kandinu and GHS Tesophenyu, Timothy Thong, programme coordinator, served as the resource person. He spoke on the importance of resisting peer pressure and making positive life choices.


A pledge to abstain from drugs was taken by both students and staff, underscoring the collective commitment to a drug-free future.

The sessions were chaired by Philip Chadiseb, president of the St. John Youth Foundation. The vote of thanks was delivered by Thonsenlo Kath, headmaster of GHS Kandinu, and Ponchulo Wanth, assistant headmaster of GHS Tesophenyu.


The programme at GHS Chunlikha was held on March 19, where the event was chaired by vice president of the Foundation, Asa Bukh. Philip Chadiseb acted as the resource person, engaging the students with insightful discussions on the long-term consequences of drug abuse. The event concluded with drawing and essay writing competitions, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Kathu Kath, headmaster of GHS Chunlikha.


The fourth awareness drive took place at GHS Tseminyu Town on March 20. Once again, Timothy Thong led the session, emphasizing the need for collective vigilance and personal responsibility in the fight against drug abuse. The session was chaired by Philip Chadiseb, while headmistress of GHS Tseminyu Town, K. Munenle Tep, expressed gratitude to the resource persons and organizers in her vote of thanks.


The series of programmes by the St. John Youth Foundation served as a significant step toward empowering young minds with knowledge and fostering a community-wide effort to combat drug abuse.
