Skill development on food processing

District administration and DLCW-Mahila Shakti Kendra, Phek under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) had organized three-day skill development training on food processing at Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS), Pfutsero which concluded on February 25. 

A press release from the organisers stated that, Thungbemo Patton, SDO (Civil) Pfutsero gave a short speech while Vechulo-u Kanuo, executive director, CWWS exhorted the gathering. She spoke on importance of skill development training in the district. Nodal officer BBBP N. Bhavani Sri said that financial independence and self reliance were important components in empowering women. She informed that the district administration was identifying the potential skills of Naga women and train them on specific fields for income generation, such as weaving, processing local fruits and vegetables etc. 
Altogether, 20 women from 10 villages within Phek district availed the training. 
The objective of the training was to enhance the knowledge of self dependency and provide income generation skills for the rural women. Nezelu Nyekha chaired the orientation programe. Meanwhile, training on tailoring also commenced on March 2 and would continue till March 14.
