A five-day skill development training program on “Income generation through scientific pig rearing” organised by ICAR KVK Longleng from October 8-12 concluded at KVK office Longleng.
A press release by KVK Longleng stated that the training focused on scientific pig housing, identification of breeds, scientific feeding, preventing diseases and treatment management, breeding, farrowing management, piglet care and management, record keeping, and economics of pig rearing.
The release stated that the participants were also given practical piggery project assignments.
The resource persons for the training program were SMS (Animal Science), Dr. Lily Ngullie, BTM (ATMA), Dr. Moisen Puchem, Lemjan and Simon, district functional specialists (NRLM), agricultural officer (DAO Longleng), C. Amei Phom, assistant professor, department of Economics (Yingli College), Konchem, SMS (Horticulture), Dr. R.K.Roshan and SRF from KVK Longleng, A. Namei.
During the valedictory function, senior scientist & head, Dr. K. L. Meena, handed the completion certificate to the participants and encouraged them to take up piggery management as a sustainable source of income generation.
Altogether 30 participants from seven different villages attended the training.
